It has been a long time since I last posted, and much has happened. My research duties have kept me too busy to make music of my own, but my ears are thankfully still wide open to new sounds made by others. And so I have the great pleasure of directing your attention to the new album by our friend and inspiration, Withiel:

The hate here enclosed was carefully stored and fermented over several years of poverty and unemployment, and can be streamed (without the covers) on Soundcloud, or downloaded as MP3 or RAR."

ParaLucid Netlabel

Volador (Nagual Art) has just launched ParaLucid, a netlabel dedicated to "Dark Ambient, Ethereal, Drone, Folk, Neo-Classical or similar sounds." The website lists upcoming albums from L'Horrible Passion, Divine Crystal Dreams, Dopedrone, and of course Nagual Art. This is going to be one to watch, for sure!

While Withiel is not currently affiliated with This Plague of Dreaming, I think that the deep core he samples will taste familiar to you who have followed the plaguedream this far.

On a personal note, KZ hits me in right around the same emotional place as the Wicker Man soundtrack ("corn riggs," and all that, but with a bit more vacant car park and orange sodium glare). Whatever I am doing at the moment, Withiel speaks to the part of me that is quietly preparing to do something else, in a different place.

Between life and death, dreaming and waking, at the train stop beyond the end of the world is the city of Palimpsest. Valente, comes out in February (you can preorder--I did), but in the meantime I strongly encourage you to stoke your senses with the original short story at Senses Five Press. The question I'm dying to see answered is: can she keep up this level of dream-drenched intensity over the length of a novel? Do I ever hope so.

Germany's [Esc.] Laboratory are veteran sonic ritualists, and explorers of a liminal territory that will be familiar to our loyal plaguedreamers. The sound is industrial-dub, thrumming bass and echoic beats offering a pulsing glimpse of deep time traveling down the spine, the soundtrack to a lunar eclipse.

When [Esc.] Laboratory contacted the PlagueDream Institute in 2006, we were impressed by their dedication and craft, and affected by their trance-inducing sound. After intense negotiations, we entered into a mutually-beneficial strategic alliance. [interrupt:Jumper] is the first of several [Esc.] Lab projects that will be hosted by This Plague of Dreaming, according to the terms of that treaty.
