The main This Plague of Dreaming website is back up, and the links are fixed.
I also added a new artist page for The Threshold People, and links to cover art for all releases.

Instabilities in the Fabric
The netlabels at archive.org are changing servers, and all is in disruption. Our address, for instance, is changing (adjust your bookmarks as appropriate). The changes will, for the most part, be good - it will be easier for artists to update or fix broken collections, and the URL's of the download pages will be considerably shorter - but it also means going back in and changing all the links at thisplagueofdreaming.net and our other promotional venues.
We do apologize for any difficulty you may have accessing the music in the meantime, and we'll let you know when it's straightened out.
[Update: it looks like the collection itself is back up and available for download. There are still some problems (e.g. download statistics not updated), and I still have some links to change tonight, but the music is there if you want it, and that's the important part.)

website update
My candle's burning low, but at last the website update is complete.
(Check out our new artist pages at www.thisplagueofdreaming.net.)
It's late, and the tech staff have long since retired to their dormitories, leaving me to finish the update alone, after hours. From my window in the PlagueDream Media Center I can see across the moonlit compound to the bunkhouse, where blue TV flickers light up The Threshold People's window. I Bury the Living? The Killer Shrews? They're probably asleep in front of it by now, the movie rewinding and repeating endlessly on their hulking old VCR and influencing their dreams.
The shades are down on the secretive To Repel Ghosts, but every now and again they light up with a bright spray of sparks, and I can hear the ancient oscillators warble and howl. (TRG find the privacy of their room more conducive to their arcane pursuits than the main laboratory, and they keep ungodly hours.)
Somewhere out there, perhaps, Sypha Nadon gazes with intricate apprehension at this same gibbous moon. His relentless and harrowing explorations, though of vital importance to us all, offer him little comfort in the small hours of the night. For some, sleep is not a refuge.
My work for the night is done, and my candle gutters in its own wax. I am about ready to expire, myself, so I'm off to my bunk.
Dream well, plaguedreamers, and don't get caught.

FYI:
For forestall any confustion, I would like to point out that (as of sometime yesterday) there is another "Threshold People" at archive.org.
Their first release, that I am aware of, is a split single with White Ape, and can be found here at Leda Tape: White Ape/Threshold People - Split Single [leda027]
It's pretty good, I have to say - and very very different from what you're used to hearing at This Plague of Dreaming. Getting us mixed up should not be a problem. That said, give them a listen (and see my review at the download page for a brief and extremely subjective description).

For those who may have missed it, the front cover art for Night of the Threshold People has finally been posted to the download page, and the PlagueDream staffer responsible for the error has been recycled (I'm beginning to lose faith in our vat-grown personnel project, despite our Mad HR Director's assurances).

What's Going On at This Plague of Dreaming?
Today is mugwort harvest time at the PlagueDream Research Facility. The Queen of Dream-Herbs grew fast and thick this year, even choking out our mint crop (if you've grown mint before, you may well be incredulous, but it is true) - far more than our drying equipment can handle at one go.
Our entire permanent staff has turned out for the harvest, and we're making it a (minor) Autumn event - tea and sweaters, and the Legendary Pink Dots on the outdoor stereo. The weather is chill and clear after a week of rain.
In other news, both To Repel Ghosts and The Threshold People are moving back into the studio (they've brought sleeping bags) to start work on follow-ups to their recent TPoD releases.
That's all for now - I'm heading back out to the fields!

Call For Artists!
This Plague of Dreaming is currently seeking artists!
TPoD is intended to feature obscure, esoteric, or just plain odd music - dreamy media mangling, b-movie horrorbeat, glitch-opera, noise-poetry, and anything else that fits our emerging aesthetic. We want laptop mad science and FXed field recordings, obscure reworkings of forgotten classics and hastily coded fragment memories upon awakening. What we want, in other words, is what you got (assuming you have one or more of these things). If you're not sure if your stuff fits, ask--it might not, but then again it might.
This netlabel is a strictly non-commercial endeavor, and our artists are strongly encouraged to publish under Creative Commons license - no one gets rich, but we do have a chance to get our music heard.
Please contact me if you are interested! We'll talk, we'll take a meeting.
[Note: do not send unsolicited files - unexpected emails with attachments will be deleted unopened!]

And So It Begins...
[NOTE: entries dated through Aug 22nd, 2007 are reposted from the original plaguedream livejournal, and are included here, sans comments, for archival purposes.]
Last night marked the launch of the new netlabel This Plague of Dreaming.
Today marks the launch of the TPoD livejournal!
In the future, this will be the place to look for label news, but for now... well, there's really not much here.
While you're waiting for me to write something more interesting, do visit our download page at archive.org and download our first single, [plague001] To Repel Ghosts - Illusions.
Thanks for listening!
